Obama speaks on Kennedy's behalf

How fitting for Obama to give the commencement speech at Wesleyan. Kennedy never obtained his dream or at least his father's dream of becoming POTUS.  He did seek out fairness for those who didn't have a voice.

Obama's campaign is a reflection of that same spirit. More voters have turned out during this primary season than in the last Presidential race. This is good for our country.

Attytood: October Surprise?

Attytood warns of the drumbeat of an October surprise. What truly saddens me in his post, is how long it has been since we have won ANY sports championship. Ugh.

On the ground in Indiana

Obama may pull this off...........

Russert and Wright

Blue collar stiff (wink, wink) living the American Dream, Tim Russert has spent at least 25 minutes discussing Rev. Wright. When will the Wright issue go away? Hmmm, when folks like Russert stop talking about Rev. Wright.

Wright is crazy but there is no evidence of the systematic condoned abuse of boys in his church.

I don't see any Catholic members holding political office being challenged to denounce their priests.....

The sun has emerged. I will retreat to comfort of outdoors......

Obama not so pure

"It’s not his experience that excites people, but his brainy élan. We don’t know about his judgment: good on Iraq, bad on Rezko.

The joke on Obama is that the only experience that has served Hillary well has been the experience of raw, retail politics — the kind he turns up his nose at — which has allowed her to seem authoritative and professional and singularly unwhiny in speeches and debates.

She first tripped up Obama by making him think that every time he fought back he was falling off his pedestal. As one of the Washington pundits Obama has scorned put it, with a grin: “That’s why you have two hands, one to graciously greet your opponents and one to stick the shiv in.”

By conjuring a scenario where Hillary is the deft insider and he’s the dewy outsider, Obama only plays into her playbook again."

Dowd: Beefcake v Mrs. Big

"Hillaryland was panting for an opportunity to paint Obama as a hypocrite for saying he was different and above it all, while acting the same. And its best ally in undermining Obama is Obama, who hoists his pedestal so high he’s bound to fall off. He seems more intent on proving he’s pure than proving he’s tough.

The Clintons act high-minded and do-gooding, while employing a staff of hit men. Obama is tangled in contradictions of high and low, saint and killer, while Hillary moves like a shark.

“She’d lean over and bite his ear off if that’s what it takes,” says Charlie Cook, the political analyst. “The question is, will he do what it takes to win? This is a guy who did not have to deal with a single negative ad being run against him in the primary and general campaigns for the Senate. It was almost an immaculate conception.”

Obama is too busy modeling to make this point, but the Clinton financial disclosures raise a big question: Do we want the country run again by a couple who get so easily wrapped around the fingers of anyone who is rich? As long as a guy was willing to give them millions, would it matter if his name were Al Capone?"

Dowd: The force is with you, Obama

Dowd makes a great point. Obama has been afraid to "punch" the lady. In the meantime, she is beating the crap out of him.

Gawande: Obama Health Plan

The one issue everyone can agree on it that the current health care system is broken. The key is to identify the Presidential candidate who has the courage to develop and implement a Health Plan that benefits the consumer.

Gore inhales......clam dip

Dowd:

Mr. Traub said that, as he followed the ex-vice president around, the Goracle was “eating like a maniac: I watched him inhale the clam dip at a reception like a man who doesn’t know when his next meal will be coming.”

Brooks, Obama, Niebuhr

The current occupant of the White House prided himself in not being "well read." Shrub has not challenged anyone's intellect.

Isn't refreshing, that someone seeking to become the most powerful man on the planet is studied.

Is Brooks trying to impress us with knowledge of Reinhold Niebuhr's work while taking a shot at Obama?

Weak.

Obama is different

Unfortunately, it takes millions of dollars to run for any major office. This presidential election is expected to cost a billion dollars. That is just crazy but that is a rant for a different day.

Like it or not, by Obama raising 25 million makes him different from the previous black candidates. He has combined grassroots outreach and the internet to reach actual voters.

Even if he does not prevail, this is good for our country.

No Policy links for Hillary

Steven D wonders:

"Don't you think maybe she ought to make it easy for us to find out where she stands on the issues, too?"

If our gal Hill actually states her position, then she can't nuance her way out of it.

Shrill does not equate to Strength

Dear God help us. A huge donor had the nerve to say what a good portion of the country has been saying for years. Bill Clinton was far better than Shrub. He was not without unnecessary drama that had a direct impact on his ability to manage the country.

First Amendment... Freedom of speech, remember.

Look Hill, if you are getting into the dance you can't dictate whom says what. This smacks of the Shrub administration. I have enough of the stubborn resolve bullshit.

It's early in the campaign and I am finding it to be tiresome.

Obama would be proslavery??? WTF???

The discussion of Obama's blackness has officially made me crazy. Is there a discussion of John McCain's "whiteness?"

Why on earth, is anyone who is not old, white with a penis, be subjected to this type of analysis? It is absurd.

Just when I thought this dialogue has reached it's peak, William Kristol's chimes in. He takes the most outrageous position the right can embrace. To suggest, Obama would have taken Stephen Douglas position on slavery is ridiculous.

According, the rules set forth by the white folks at the time, all you had have is a drop of black blood in your system to be officially black. Need I remind you of the mulatto slaves running around Thomas Jefferson's plantation? Obama may have been a house slave, but he still would have a been slave. If he stepped out of line, his nice house niggra clothes would have been stripped from him, then he would have been horsewhipped. Depending on his skillset, he MAY have returned to the big house.

Let's not even talk about sex. There is longstanding fear of the sexuality of the black man. Maybe this is Kristol's underlying fear? Maybe, this is all of those white guy's fear. Here is this fine brother who could be the most powerful man on the planet.

Power is an aphrodisiac. Bill Clinton got in trouble for having done to him what every healthy man wishes would be done to him on a nightly basis. There would be a radical reduction in carpal tunnel syndrome in the male population.

Ok ladies, quick question. If you have the opportunity to see Obama or Kristol naked, whom would you chose?

That what I thought, me too....
